Standing Still was a piece commissioned by Art in General as part of their 25th anniversary exhibition. I crocheted (with some help!) over 2,500 granny squares and sewed them into 65 blankets that were then wrapped on every light pole, stop light pole and street sign pole along Canal Street in lower Manhattan. I installed about a dozen blankets each week of the exhibition. After they were installed, each of the blankets was taken by a passer-by. I had no control over or idea of who was taking them or when they took them or what they did with them.
