Life begins and ends with stories. As a photographer I see myself as a visual storyteller, always on the lookout for narrative images as they naturally reveal themselves in the world around me. Within these ambiguous scenarios are pictorial clues that spark my curiosity and imagination. They ask provocative questions that ultimately can never be answered with is part of their fascination.
American Stories is an investigation of culture, identity, memory and loss, as seen through the everyday stories we tell. It uncovers traces of the past that linger in the present. This journey back in time takes me to a porch in northern Ohio, a formal garden in the Bershires, a vintage storefront in upstate New York, a cabin in the Adirondacks—even my own suburban back yard. In the process, I fall under a spell, haunted by what's gone and what remains.
